What is thermoplastic resin?

Thermoplastic resin is the plastic resin is soft after heating and hardened after cooling. Also the thermoplastic resin can be  recycling after injection molding. The thermoplastic resin is the most common plastic resin used for plastic injection molding and the plastic products used for our industry and life.

There are lots of thermoplastic resin as below:

ABS(with glass fill), Polystyrene, Polypropylene(with glass fill), Polyethylene(with glass fill), Polystyrene, Acrylic,, Acetal, Nylon(with glass fill), PBT(wih glass fill), ASA, PVC, CPVC, UPVC, PC(with glass fill), PC/ABS, PPS, Rubber, PPO, POM, PEEK, PEI, PPA and PPS etc.

Most of injection molding plastic parts are used this process to make out such as plastic cups, plastic bottle, plastic caps, automotive plastic part(like handles, dashboard plastic part, automobile bumper and automotive seat plastic bracket etc.) , home appliance product plastic part, communicate plastic parts, cameras plastic parts, electronic and electric product plastic enclosure and accessories(like plastic fans, power supplier plastic enclosure, electric shaver plastic enclosure and plastic accessories, plastic socket and electricity meter plastic parts etc.)

Except for thermoplastic resin, is there any the other resin?

On the opposite side, it is the thermoset plastic resin. Normally this resin is solid and soft, and it is not possible to recycle.  The thermoset plastic resin hardened after heating. There are a few thermoset resin as following:

• Phenol-formaldehyde resin



• Bakelite



• Animoplastics



• Urea-formaldehyde resin



• Melamine-formaldehyde resin (MF)



• Melamine-phenol-formaldehyde resin (MPF)



• Epoxide resin



• Silicone (liquid or solid)

Normally these resin is to use injection molding or compression molding. On the injection molding process for this resin, there should be cooling near the runner and no heating on the injection machine barrel.
